Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about getting a website for your law firm. If your question is not answered here, just ask us.

How long does it take to build a solicitor website?

Most law firm websites take 2-4 weeks from start to launch. This includes design, your feedback, content integration, and testing. Timeline depends partly on your responsiveness with content and feedback, and how many practice areas and solicitor profiles are needed. We can often work faster if you have content ready.

What do I need to provide for my website?

You will need to provide: your logo, written content for each page (or we can write it), photos of your team and office, your SRA registration number, details of your practice areas, fee information for services requiring price transparency, and any testimonials. We send a detailed checklist when we start and can help fill gaps.

Will my website be SRA compliant?

We design websites with SRA requirements in mind, including proper registration display, complaints procedure, price transparency where required, and regulatory statements. However, final compliance responsibility rests with your firm. We recommend your compliance officer reviews the site before launch and we will make any changes they require.

Do you help with the price transparency requirements?

Yes. For services where the SRA requires pricing disclosure (conveyancing, probate, certain employment and immigration work), we help you present fees clearly and accessibly. We can advise on format and placement, though the actual fee information must come from you.

Can I update the website myself?

Minor updates like text changes and new team photos are included in your monthly hosting. We handle these for you, usually within 24-48 hours. For clients wanting direct access, we can provide a content management system, though most solicitors prefer to email us changes rather than managing it themselves.

What happens if I want to leave?

You are not locked in. Give us 30 days notice and we help with the transition, providing your website files and assisting with domain transfer. We keep clients through good work, not by making it difficult to leave. That said, most clients stay with us for years.

Will my website work on mobile phones?

Absolutely. Every website we build is fully responsive, automatically adjusting to look great on phones, tablets, and desktops. Many legal searches, especially urgent ones, happen on mobile. We test on real devices to ensure the experience is seamless.

How do you handle GDPR and data protection?

We build websites with GDPR compliance in mind: cookie consent banner, privacy policy template, and secure form handling. Contact form data is transmitted securely. You remain the data controller, and we provide the technical compliance features your website needs.

Can you write the content for my website?

Yes. We offer copywriting services for an additional fee, typically £50-75 per page. We interview you about your practice areas and approach, then write compelling content. You review and approve everything. Many firms find this easier than writing it themselves.

What if I need a client portal?

Client portals for document sharing and case tracking are possible but add significant complexity and cost (typically £3,000+ on top of the base website). For most firms, we recommend starting with a solid marketing website and adding portal functionality later if needed. We can discuss your specific requirements.
