Has your firm been cloned?.
Fraudsters copy real firms' names and FRNs to win people's trust. Enter your firm reference number and I'll check every FCA clone warning for your firm. If you want, I'll email you the day a new one names you.
Questions advisers ask
What is a clone firm?
A clone firm is a scam that pretends to be a genuine FCA-authorised firm. The fraudsters use the real firm's name, FRN or address, with their own phone numbers, emails and websites, to convince people they're dealing with someone regulated.
Where does this information come from?
From the FCA's own clone firm warnings. Each one names the genuine firm and its FRN, so the check matches your FRN exactly rather than guessing from names.
What should I do if my firm has been cloned?
Tell your compliance support, warn your clients, and add a notice to your website saying how you'll contact people. The alert email gives you wording for both, filled in with the fraudsters' details. My guide on what to do if your firm is cloned goes through it step by step.
How do the alerts work?
They come free with FCA Updates. I check the FCA's warnings several times a day, and if a new one names your FRN, or your principal's if you're an appointed representative, you get an email that day rather than waiting for Friday.
Is it free?
Yes, the check and the alerts are both free.
Based on the FCA's published clone firm warnings. Not affiliated with or endorsed by the FCA. Also free for advisers: FCA updates for your firm and tax updates for your clients.
