Website maintenance checklist

A website is not something you build once and forget about. Like a car, it needs regular maintenance to keep running well. Here is what you should be doing.

Every week: check that your site loads properly, make sure contact forms are working, and review any analytics data. If you have a blog, aim to publish at least one post a month to keep your content fresh.

Every month: update WordPress plugins and themes (if you are on WordPress), check for broken links, review your Google Search Console for any errors, and back up your site. Most good hosting providers handle backups automatically.

Every quarter: review your website content for accuracy. Check that prices, opening hours, team members, and services are all up to date. Test your site on different devices and browsers to make sure everything still looks right.

Every year: consider a content refresh. Update your homepage, review your SEO strategy, check your competitors' sites, and think about whether you need new features or pages. Your business changes over time and your website should too.

If this sounds like a lot of work, that is what maintenance packages are for. We offer ongoing support from £10 a month that covers updates, security monitoring, backups, and content changes so you do not have to worry about any of it.
